Yellow, Purple or Green?

It’s not right! Josephine Baker can’t have a yellow face cried papa bear. Oh yeah? said baby bear. Well, you never said there was anything wrong with Louis Armstrong having a slightly blue-green nose and a purple face!

I could claim that I am following in the footsteps of greats like Van Gogh – just picture his famous self-portrait with bandaged ear where his skin is painted in green tones.

However, the truth is, painting faces in any colour but flesh tone is a method of defeating perfectionism. One cannot claim that it is imperfect and unrealistic if one was not trying. And anyway, what’s a green nose here and there between friends, eh?
