storybook page 2 rework

At last, the spread is finally working for me. Despite my first thoughts, none of the original right hand page made it back in, although other collage materials did. I fossicked in a box and found some bits and pieces… an extremely purposeful way of selecting the right collage papers – not!

The face is that of Josephine Baker, done in mostly crayon with ink pen for the hands and a little around the eyes. The calligraphy on the left hand side, is to add continuity from Megan’s previous page. The story now reads: “What in the name of God d’you make of that? Words, just words. But she wanted more than words. She wanted to have her cake and eat it too. She wanted…”

I’m so pleased I decided to rip that page out!
